"Just the facts " from our Service Team

We have been receiving inquiries from our Customers who are wondering if the issues currently discussed in the media on " smart pedals " may have implications for Volkswagen.
Since model year 2002 Volkswagen Group has used an electronic throttle control strategy in all of its U.S. vehicles
The VW system prevents any unwanted acceleration, because the brake pedal is programmed to override the accelerator. If the driver applies the brake pedal while driving with an actuated pedal, engine power
( torque output ) is reduced to a level that enables the vehicle to stop. We call this feature " brake override "; the media refers to it as a " smart pedal "
If you have any questions regarding our brake override technology please feel free to email our service team.
